The Alchemist Cookbook

The Alchemist Cookbook

The Alchemist Cookbook is anything but your average horror film. The micro-budget movie centers around a loner who travels to a secluded cabin, but somewhere along his experiments, he accidentally summons the devil. It may sound absurd, but that is exactly what the movie was heading for as it mixes elements of comedy, horror, and even drama quite nicely.

Gimme Danger

Release date: October 28,2016

Gimme Danger

It is no secret that director Jim Jarmusch loves music, and he certainly knows how to work with it too. In his new documentary featuring the legendary rock band The Stooges, audiences are given an intimate look at their journey. Filled with a nostalgic soundtrack, the eccentric yet somehow charismatic lead singer Iggy Pop, as well as some facts you may not know about the band, this is one of the most unique new movies coming this month.

The Birth of a Nation

Release date: October 7, 2016

The Birth of a Nation

Birth of a Nation was a certified hit during Sundance. It was actually based on the real-life story of Nat Turner, the African American man who led a slave rebellion in Virginia back in the 1800s.

Now this film may have garnered a lot of controversy as the director and main star, Nate Parker, had a history of sexual assault back in 1999. To make matters worse, the movie featured a brutal rape scene, attracting a lot of press coverage in the process. Controversy aside, Birth of a Nation still continues to be a top contender for the upcoming awards season.
